Karen RobinovitzKaren Robinovitz got her start at Women’s Wear Daily, where she covered haute news in New York for three years. She has been a seasoned journalist, writing about beauty, fashion, style, celebrities, entertaining, home design, dating/relationships/sex, travel, and lifestyles of the rich and fabulous, for over a decade. In addition to having been a Contributing Editor at Marie =laire Magazine and Elle Magazine, she has penned high profile pieces for Harper’s Bazaar, the New York Times Styles section, the New York Post, Glamour, and In Style, Details, New York Magazine, and countless blogs.
Her first book, “How to become FAMOUS in two weeks or less” (Ballantine), a sassy hybrid of personal essays and cheeky self-help tips, was released in July, 2003. Walt Disney Productions acquired the feature film rights and Reveille, a Universal-based production company, acquired the reality TV show rights. Her second book, “The Fashionista Files: Adventures in four-inch heels and faux pas” (Ballantine), which designers Michael Kors and Diane von Furstenberg raved about, hit shelves in September 2004. “Fete Accompli! The ultimate guide to creative entertaining” (Clarkson Potter), her third title, is in its seventh printing.
A media veteran and fashion/beauty insider, Ms. Robinovitz also consults for the most esteemed companies in search of refreshed identities and audiences, from high-brow to mass markets. Her modern approach is one that is social media savvy, offering a 360-degree approach to marketing, strategic partnerships, and out-of-the-box initiatives that build buzz and brand awareness.
She has created licensing deals and fashion partnerships for Warner Brothers; online marketing campaigns for LVMH, Estee Lauder brands, L’Oreal brands, Saks Fifth Avenue, Coach, Alberto Culver brands, Diane von Furstenberg, and Procter & Gamble; as well as trend-forecasting reports and presentations for Givaudan, the foremost global luxury fragrance house.
It is no surprise that television came calling. A regular on VH-1’s cult-hit, “The Fabulous Life,” Ms. Robinovitz projects a natural on-air presence, one that is often seen on E!, MTV, the Style Network, CNN, The Tyra Banks Show, Good Day New York, ABC News, Fox News, CNN, and morning shows across the country. Plus, she starred in and co-produced a pilot for a reality show for BRAVO.
In addition, she has been a spokesperson for venerable companies such as AOL, Bath & Body Works, and Pepperidge Farm, and has hosted interactive events across the country for Marie Claire Magazine, DKNY, Armani, Macy’s and Marshall Field’s.
Ms. Robinovitz has her finger on the pulse of pop culture. With her keen sense of chic, she is something of a “lifestylist” for celebrities and royals alike, curating wardrobes, décor, art collections, and libraries of sophisticated books.
In 2009, she mixed all of her talents to launch Purple Lab (www.purplelabnyc.com), an innovative brand all about double duty beauty. Sold in prestigious retailers such as Scoop and Fred Segal Melrose, the brand was an instant hit, showcased on the Today Show, CBS’s The Doctors, Oprah Magazine, Star Magazine and every influential blog online. Purple Lab, a celebrity favorite and pop of fun in the market place, is expanding by the millisecond.
